Why did you choose Flywheel?

Flywheel offers an incredibly fast and reliable platform backed by the best tools, interface and support in the industry. They were founded in 2012 and have over 100 employees. They have values that align with Fizzle’s and share our appreciation for fun, simplicity and great design.

We’re not just saying these things to be nice. From their amazing local development tool to staging sites to simple FTP to easy and fast site migrations, Flywheel really is a breath of fresh air in the hosting world. We have worked with dozens of web hosts over the years and we didn’t take this decision lightly.

How much does it cost?

A fully-featured hosting plan for one small to medium site is included in your TryingIsBeing membership at no additional charge. No overage charges or surprise “gotcha” charges either. Just excellent hosting included in your membership for free.

What does “managed” WordPress hosting mean?

When we refer to Flywheel as managed WordPress hosting, we’re talking about a number of things that make their hosting stand out from generic shared hosting companies. Because they treat each site on Flywheel individually, they go to great lengths to ensure that each and every one of them is secure, fast, and always up-to-date. And they go out of their way to answer questions or resolve issues when they arise.

Flywheel’s managed WordPress hosting includes server-level caching, which means there’s no need to configure caching yourself for maximum performance. They automatically manage security, blocking hacking and malware without you having to do anything. And if your site does happen to get hacked, they’ll fix it for you, free of charge. Flywheel manages software updates, making sure they don’t cause any problems with your setup. And finally, they back all of this with expert WordPress support.

Why are you doing this? What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. By partnering with Flywheel, we’re betting that it will make TryingIsBeing even more attractive to both new and existing members.

We want to make sure TryingIsBeing continues to be an incredible value, and providing web hosting on top of the training, roadmap, coaching and community will save members as much as $30/month vs. comparable premium WordPress hosting plans. We know how frustrating it can be to deal with finding and setting up a reliable host for your WordPress site.

What kind of resources do I get?

The plan included in your membership comes with the following:

What if I have multiple sites or need more resources?

First, there are no overage charges. If your site uses more resources than your plan allows, we will reach out to you prior to moving you to a new plan at the beginning of the next month.

The standard plan that is included in your membership allows for one site to be hosted and up to 50,000 visits per month. This is enough to handle the majority of our members’ site needs for quite some time.

If you have multiple sites or need more resources, additional sites can be added for $20 per month, and will be billed in addition to your TryingIsBeing membership.

Can my sites be migrated from my current host?

Yes! Every site comes with easy and free professional migration. Just provide a few details, and Flywheel will make sure your site gets moved seamlessly. We’ve used this migration process ourselves and can attest that it is truly painless and quick.

What level of support is included?

Flywheel’s team of WordPress experts goes above and beyond what nearly any other hosting company will help out with. Because they specialize in just WordPress, the support team is able to quickly diagnose any range of problems with your site. They’ve seen it all, from “OMG, I need help, I have a serious problem!,” to “can you recommend a plugin for XYZ,” Flywheel support is here to help.

What if I don’t use WordPress?

Unfortunately, our hosting program is only available to WordPress users. In a recent survey, we found that 82% of TryingIsBeing members use WordPress. We chose a managed WordPress host because it will benefit the most members.

Can I run a WordPress “multisite” installation?

Yes, WordPress multisite is supported. You can run a network of sites this way, but the overall plan limits apply to the total visits, disk, bandwidth, etc.

Will Flywheel host my email?

Flywheel, believes strongly in working with “best of breed” providers for everything they do, and they view themselves as a “best of breed WordPress host.” As such, they do not currently host email for clients. They make a deliberate effort to focus on building a great WordPress hosting environment and to be the absolute best at it.

That said, there are some great simple alternatives out there.

First, it’s possible to simply forward email sent to addresses at your domain to your regular email address. Many domain registrars like Namecheap support this. This is what we do with our TryingIsBeing company addresses, for example.

If you want a full-featured email host, Rackspace Email, Gmail for business and Zoho are the three best choices.

Does TryingIsBeing run it’s own sites on Flywheel?

Yes! We’re migrating all of our own sites to Flywheel, including fizzle.co. So far, we’ve seen a 42% reduction in page load times for the sites we’ve moved, without doing any kind of optimization. That’s the power of the built-in performance infrastructure provided by Flywheel.

What happens if I leave Fizzle?

If you decide to leave Fizzle, you can continue using the web hosting at a discounted price. Prices for TryingIsBeing alumni start at $15 per month. The support, resources and quality of hosting are identical whether you’re a TryingIsBeing member or alumni.

Alternatively, you can also request to have your account transferred over entirely to Flywheel onto one of their standard plans. They have plans ranging from $15 to $75 per site per month, and transferring is seamless.
